How to Get a JOB in MARKETING
By Sue-Ellen Farmer

If you are looking to get a job working in MARKETING, be prepared for fierce competition for jobs throughout all of the marketing disciplines. With a clever, flexible and well thought out strategy everything is possible.

There are several ways to get into Marketing:

Working in your holidays or doing unpaid work experience – By applying early and well before summer vacation begins to large corporations, blue-chip firms or companies that have a marketing department is a great way to gain experience.

Be sure to apply early, have a fantastic Resume that displays your excellent academic achievements, any membership associations and why you would be an asset to any busy marketing department.

On a Trainee or Graduate training program – Once again, apply early, do not make the mistake of a majority of graduates and college leavers who wait until they have left University or College before applying for training schemes. Double check, triple check and get someone else to check your application form to ensure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors.

Starting in a junior position and work your way up – getting a job as a marketing assistant or an administrator is a great way to get into marketing. Once you have been working in the role for 3 months investigate the opportunity to study part-time for a recognised Marketing qualification.

Transferring internally – if you are already working for a firm that has a marketing department, investigate potential vacancies within the marketing department and how easy it would be to transfer departments. Acquaint yourself with members of the marketing team and enquire about any possible vacancies. If you are looking to transfer internally, ensure your employment record is exemplary and if it is not, set about cleaning it up ie, arrive early for work, stay late to assist with deadlines and try not to taking any sick leave. Most organisations would prefer to transfer a great employee internally than going outside the organisation.

Studying part-time after work to gain a recognised Marketing qualification - by taking the initiative and gaining a marketing qualification to add to your credentials will be an added bonus when applying for marketing job vacancies.

Working for a small firm – discuss with a senior member of staff about taking on the Marketing responsibility. Suggest ways to increase the companies brand awareness, website traffic attraction methods, product placement and promotion. Once you take on the companies marketing responsibility, after 3 successful months enquire if the company is in a position to pay for you to study for a recognised Marketing qualification.

There are so many different aspects of marketing and most blue-chip organisations have several different marketing departments. For example there is market research and analysis, product marketing, sales marketing, corporate market intelligence, customer relationship marketing, FMCG – Fast Moving Consumer Goods to name but a few.

With fierce competition a majority of employers now expect their new employees to add value to the marketing business function and pick the ball up and run with it from day one. The need to be clear, concise and focussed when you apply for a marketing job vacancy is imperative.

If you are prepared to work hard, use your initiative and be flexible in your approach the global opportunities are endless for a talented, professional, slick and disciplined marketing expert.

How to Use New Media Tools to Market Your Business Online
By Dave Morrow

Are you using the Internet as much as you could be to your market your website? The Internet is full of great marketing opportunities that are practically free. All you need to do is be creative and think outside the box. New media tools are always being developed for use on the Web and many of these new tools can be used to market your website. In fact, many of them are developed partially as a way of marketing other material found around the Web. In order to get ahead of the millions of other Websites that are going to be competing with yours for the attention of potential customers you will need to embrace these new media tools and develop marketing strategies that incorporate them as a way to reach new markets.

Just because something is new doesn’t make it automatically effective though. Lots of Internet entrepreneurs make the mistake of jumping on every new media tool that comes out and trying to use it to market their website without waiting to see if it’s going to catch on or not. In order to avoid wasting your resources on tools that aren’t going to be effective it’s a good idea to wait until you hear some buzz starting about a particular new media tool and then pounce. That way you won’t be wasting your time but you’ll be getting in on the new tool before your competitors.

So what are the hot new media tools that you should be using right now? Here are just a few:

Social networking – Web 2.0 is all about personal interaction and people spend more on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook than they do on surfing the Web aimlessly. You should have profiles on all the major social networking sites for your business and you should be actively participating in those sites in order to keep the interest high in your business.

Video marketing – Video marketing is one of the newest trends when it comes to Internet marketing. Most households these days have high speed Internet connections or use the Internet at libraries and coffee shops that have high speed connections so viewing videos is possible for almost all Internet users. Video marketing makes it possible for you to draw customers into your Website immediately and advertise your Website in a personal way that fits the Web 2.0 model of making the Internet personal.

Podcasting – If you’re not Podcasting yet, why not? Podcasting is easy and cheap to do and very effective at marketing a Website. With just a mic and free sound editing software you can create a Podcast that sells your Website or your product while giving information to customers. Interested customers can subscribe to your website to find out when updated Podcasts are available which gives you more names to add to your email marketing list. Customers can download Podcasts to their computers or their cell phones, making them the perfect way to reach people that aren’t sitting home on their computers all day but like to stay connected through the Web.

Social Networking sites are the most trafficked sites in the world today and are growing.

Social Media Tips – Using New Media Guerrilla Marketing in Turbulent Business Economies

By David Hale

For many businesses today, social media sites are the best place to find an attract new customers for their business. Places like Twitter make it easy for you to search for and connect with people in your target group. From there on you build the relationship, show your knowledge, grow your authority and hopefully get customers.

You can subscribe to alerts for keywords that are used on Twitter and then identify which tweets are from companies needing services falling into your particular niche. Then, you can reply to their tweet, saying that you may be able to help them out. There is no hard sell here; it is more like being at an event and saying, “I overheard you say you are looking to have your website translated. What exactly are you looking for?”. Sometimes you will be ignored while other times you will go off the site and start communicating directly.

Eventually, you will obtain clients that come to you as a result of them following your business on Twitter. When they need a company that offers your particular services, guess who will be in the front of the line? You of course as long as you take the time to develop the relationship by providing links to valuable content through your Tweets.

With the turbulent economy today, businesses are looking for guerrilla and grassroots marketing strategies, mainly through social networking sites, because of the cost factor; they are free! Once you jump in with both feet and use all of the available social media tools out there, you will be convinced that online social networking is the NEW wave of marketing, allowing manufacturers and retailers to connect directly with their clients, therefore creating a personal relationship. With all of the distrust that consumers are currently experiencing, the person to person contact is becoming very important.

If you are out to attract prospective customers and develop your online presence and exposure, you owe it to yourself and the financial future of your business to learn everything you can about social media.

How to start my own online business

How to Start My Own Online Business
By Alan Pearce

How many people, I wonder, wake up each morning and think how I wish I could start my own online business? Until relatively recently such a thought would have been nothing more than a pipedream for the majority of people, but the increasing significance, understanding and awareness of the internet has moved the goalposts dramatically although, I would suggest, many, many people have absolutely no idea of the very real possibility that is there, before their very eyes.

Part of the problem, I feel, is that too many people, the so-called gurus, want you to believe that making money online is easy and untold riches are but an arm’s length away. If only that were remotely true! Would be marketers become frustrated and disillusioned very quickly and quit almost before they have started.

People need to understand that an online business should be approached in exactly the same way as one would an offline business. There is no magic wand, no short cut that is going to enable you to earn vast sums of money virtually overnight – it just isn’t possible and it’s not going to happen.

The sooner people realise that starting an online business will take discipline, hard work and time (but very little money), the more chance they will have in succeeding. How to start my own online business is a question that can be assigned to the past but only with the right mindset.

Just imagine if it was possible to be able to access information that was designed to take you step-by-step, in layman’s terms, through the whole process so that you were able to not only understand and implement the necessary steps but also grasp the principles of conducting business online which, once learned, would never be forgotten?

So, if you are asking the question, how to start my own online business, I would urge you to consider the points made above. There is an answer to this conundrum and I want to share that with you at http://www.discover-the-secret-to-success.com.

Online Data Entry Jobs That Pay Well
By Alan Lim

These days, the office job is not the best option for many people who would rather work at home. This is why more and more people take online data entry jobs instead. This is the perfect alternative for young mothers who still want to work but have to take care of the family at the same time. It is also a great opportunity for students who want to take part time jobs but would rather not be reporting to a convenience store or library just to make that extra cash. The Internet is probably the safest place to work since everything can be done from home. Here are some jobs online that actually pay for data entry.

Blog Entries

A lot of individuals and even companies are willing to spend money on people who will maintain their blogs for them. The problem here is that these people actually have all the ideas for their blogs but they either don’t know how to put it in words or just cannot be bothered with manually entering that data into a blog. Therefore, these tasks are offered as online data entry jobs for anyone who will take them. There is a quota to reach each day but you can expect to be paid at the end of each day or whatever is most convenient for the payer.

Twitter Entries

Twitter has fast become one of the biggest online communities where people connect with each other and share information with one another. This is the reason why more and more people want to be on Twitter but when they do join, they don’t really know what to post. This is where you can come in. You can get paid to maintain a Twitter account and online data entry jobs like this are one in a million. Just think how easy it is to place in 140 character entries including links just to direct people to other websites!

Website Articles

Of course, online marketing is still a big thing because it is what attracts visitors to various websites. This is one of the biggest paying online data entry jobs and a lot of people get into this activity just to make a few extra bucks. However, with the right guidance and concentration this can mean big money for the person working the job. You may want to consider this if you have the knack for churning hundreds of words in just hours a day. The only requirement is that you write on specific topics that are assigned to you by certain individuals or companies.

Pick the right Online Data Entry Jobs that will get you a regular income. For the best information on these jobs, please visit us at http://www.goodinternetmoney.com/How_To_Find_Legitimate_Online_Data_Entry_Jobs.php.

Increase productivity in your home based business

Increase Productivity in Your Home Based Business
By Tom McMullen

Do you wonder how other people manage to work at home and actually get work done? They make it seem effortless. Even though working from home may be your dream, not everyone is cut out to be their own boss. It takes excellent time management skills, determination and dedication to be a success. The harsh truth is that home businesses fail everyday. Take precaution not to let that happen to your business. Make every moment count.

Keep Work Separate from Household and Family Demands

For some people, it is a real chore to keep work separate from household and family demands. It is all too easy to start a load of laundry, clean out the refrigerator or spent time with your kids when you work out of your home. You have to resist the temptation to spend your day being sidetracked from your work.

Set work hours and stick to them. Make yourself unavailable for phone calls, helping with homework and cleaning a house during these hours. Let everyone know what your plan is and ask them to help you stick to it by not bothering you during these hours. Keep work separate from your other responsibilities to increase productivity.

Get Organized for More Productivity in Your Home Business

Between scheduling activities and appointments, handling paperwork, respond to e-mails, returning phone calls and marketing your home business, there is no room for disorganization. That is not even including the time you spend running errands, sending emails, doing chores, getting distracted by the TV and playing online games.

Get organized to increase productivity and make more money from your home business. Establish a system to track your sales, finances and communication. Set aside time you that you can devote to building, organizing and maintaining your home business. Once you realize that each of these is important to your home business, you will set aside time to work on each portion of the home business on a regular basis.

Keep accurate records and stay organized to avoid spending extra time looking for documents or losing track of receipts. Neatly arrange paperwork in a file cabinet and carefully organize online documents for ease of use.

Set Goals for Yourself to Increase Productivity

A little friendly competition goes a long way, whether at work or play. Competing with yourself is one way to accomplish more during the day. Create goals for yourself and your home based business, then strive to attain them. Make your goals clear and concise. Set goals that are somewhat challenging but not unattainable. Get your work goals in writing. You can even reward yourself for meeting your business related goals.

A goal to increase your productivity might be completing your “to do” list for the day, attaining three new clients this week, reaching a certain level of sales for the week or the month or any number of things related to your home business. The idea is to keep yourself on task and motivate yourself to reach your goals. More money is always a good incentive to work. Put more time and energy into your home business and you will be impressed with the results of your increased productivity. A little effort and organization will increase productivity in your home based business.

Building a home business on a shoestring budget – Basics

Building a Home Business on a Shoestring Budget – Basics
By Stephanie Foster

Most people don’t have a lot of money to spend on running their home business. They need to be more practical and really think about where their money goes. These are some low to no cost activities you can do that may help you to build a home business.

Most are more time intensive than money intensive. That’s a trade you often have to make. If you have the money to risk on making things go faster you can go that way. If you don’t have the money you’re going to have to spend the time.

Shoestring 1: Blog

Blogs are highly affordable to run, even if you pay for hosting and a domain name. They take a lot of time to build up, but can bring a lot of targeted attention to whatever you’re trying to sell, whether it’s a product or a service.

Shoestring 2: Article marketing

Article marketing isn’t easy. You have to write a lot of articles in order to succeed. You have to submit them to at least one of the top directories, possibly to several.

Shoestring 3: Social bookmarking

Social bookmarking can build a great number of links. There are hundreds of sites out there where you can bookmark pages from your website. They’re not terribly strong links for the most part, but they’re still links.

Shoestring 4: Social networking

If you want to put a little more effort into particular networks, social networking sites can be great. You can create accounts on sites such as Twitter and Facebook and promote your products.

This is challenging in the amount of time it takes. You get more followers by giving good information, not just promoting your business. You can get plenty of followers by following other people, but if you aren’t getting them interested they won’t do you any good. You need numbers of engaged followers, not just followers.

Shoestring 5: Blog Commenting

Commenting on relevant blogs generally doesn’t bring a lot of traffic, but can bring some. It can show your knowledge in your industry. Just keep things relevant to the topic you’re commenting on and don’t constantly be promoting your site.

Shoestring 6: Forum Participation

Participating in forums can really help to bring people to your site, so long as you can leave links to your site in your signature line. As with blog commenting, you need to keep things relevant to your site and not be too promotional. Forum owners hate that and you’re likely to be banned and have posts deleted.

With enough shoestrings for your business, you have a chance to tie up a pretty nice business. Keep working at it and you might go far.

Stephanie Foster blogs at http://www.homewiththekids.com/blog/ about ways to earn money online from home. Learn about the challenges of running a home business that not everyone talks about at her site.
