An experienced Infrastructure Engineer is required by this leading Telco to work on the build of a new series of environments within Amazon Web Services.  As part of a top-performing and highly regarded team, you will be deploying the latest open source applications, and developing processes to scale the environment as required.  You will be working in an agile environment with other infrastructure engineers and application developers to streamline the delivery of new environments.

In order to be successful in this role, it is important that you have the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years Unix/Linux system administration in large scale environments,
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) highly desirable.
  • Strong system administration skills on UNIX (preferably red hat/ubuntu).
  • Familiar with UNIX shells and Shell scripting.
  • Perl experience desirable.
  • Good security and networking knowledge.
  • Familiar with open source system monitoring tools.
  • Comfortable installing/configuring and monitoring a wide variety of software (Apache2, Tomcat6, Postgres, MySQL etc.)
  • Git experience well regarded.

Core Tasks:
Develop robust and achievable work plans, including management of scope and project risk
Provide timely and accurate progress reports and project documentation to management and governance groups
Evaluate effectiveness of project management tools, processes and methodologies, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
Develop and deliver effective communication materials for various audience groups
Effectively manage relationships with IT delivery teams, and facilitate collaboration between those teams (including external providers)
Structure IT solution delivery teams to incorporate required skills, from Bank team members and delivery partners
Track and manage IT solution delivery activities, and identify and develop mitigation strategies to manage interdependencies between solution components
Oversee the production and delivery of solution components from vendors and third party suppliers, manage risks and issues and develop effective mitigation strategies for same
Ensure technology solutions are aligned with org's architecture
Manage the aggregate change to the org's operating environment for the systems impacted by the project such that the level of change introduces no additional or unnecessary risk.
Co-ordinate business process change requirements with the business to ensure that where required, process changes are implemented in Tandem with system changes
Responsible for the budget for the SDLC component on larger projects.
